In 2006 my mother passed and we were fortunate to have a family member offer a burial plot for her. After a year of her death, we decided on a marker for her and come to find out that the marker was already in place, it was just a matter of adding my mother's name on it. We had plan to bury our father with her, but now the plan has changed. It is going to be 5 years since her death and it's been unfortunate that we were not able to move her nor purchase another plot due to our financial situation. Just a few hours ago, I just found out from my brother that our father does not have much time to live. although he looks healthy, his inside are not do to cancer. We still do not have the means to buy a plot and move our mother before our dad. Although, he has life insurance, it only will cover enough the necessary expenses for his funeral and memorial services and not enough to move our mother. I've met and spoke with the person at the burial place and base on the services, fees (outrageous), burial plot, and to move our mother, it will cost about $10,000. I'm scared that we will not have time before my dad's time to make his wish come true and that is to find a plot and move our mother into it before he goes. If anyone can help and provide resources to orgainzations that will be willing to help, I am greatly thankful. I have never asked for a handout and never thought it would come to this, but I don't know what else to do especially knowing that my dad will soon be with our mother.
